Illustrious author Mr Baharullah Hazarvi presenting English version of his book on King AbdulAziz Bin Abdur Rehman Al Saud to Consul General Aftab A Khokher in his office. The book was originally written in Arabic and its Urdu translation is also available.
Mr Baharullah has served in Saudi Arabia in different capacities and is well versed with Saudi history and culture. Over the years he has worked for strengthening the relations between two brotherly countries.
Jeddah- March 26, 2013:
Consul General Aftab A Khokher has said that relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are time tested and deep rooted and the relationship between Navies of the two countries are based on lasting bonds. He was speaking as Chief Guest here at a reception, held late Monday night at Pakistan Navy ship "PNS SHAHJAHAN” that is on goodwill visit to Saudi Arabia.
Deputy Commander of Western fleet of Royal Navy Commodore Fahad Al Sabyani, Consul Generals of different countries, diplomats, dignitaries, media persons, officers of Saudi Navy and a large number of community members were also present on the occasion.
Consul General Aftab Khokher welcomed the officers and JCOs of Pakistan Navy to Saudi Arabia and said that relationships between two brotherly countries Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are excellent at all levels. He said our brotherhood has transcended the vicissitude of time. The relations are not based on political expediency; rather it is etched deep in the heart of every Pakistani and Saudi national. We care about each other more in practice than in words.
He further said that Pak-Saudi relations are of strategic nature and such goodwill visits of naval ships from friendly countries further strengthen their bonds. He also highlighted the strategic importance of relations between Pakistan and Royal Saudi navies. He emphasized that such visits are source of strength between the armed forces of both countries.
Commander of the Ship Captain Irfan Taj welcomed the guests on board and informed about the goodwill mission and briefly highlighted the state of the art Combat Management System, torpedoes and oceanographic technologies available at PNS SHAHJAHAN. . He informed that PNS ShahJahan has played a dynamic role to safeguard our maritime interests. He informed that Pakistan Navy , in addition to Cooperative Maritime Security is also undertaking independent operations to protect its flag carriers plying in the Indian Ocean.
He also informed that the ship derives its name after Shahjahan, the third son of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, who was born in Lahore. Shahjahan, at the age of 14, became the emperor of India when his father died in 1628. He extended the Mughal Empire to southern India and valiantly tried to expand the empire to Balkh and Badakhshan in northern Afghanistan.PNS Shahjahan is the third ship to bear the name. A Type-21 ship, it was commissioned in Pakistan on Sept. 23, 1994.
At the end, Consul General Aftab A Khokher, Commodore Fahad Al Sabyani of Saudi Royal and Commander of Ship Captain Irfan Taj cut the cake to celebrate long lasting friendship of Pakistan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Pakistani community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today celebrated the Pakistan National Day 23rdMarch, 2013 with simplicity, zeal and fervor. The day started with flag hoisting ceremonies held simultaneously at the Embassy of Pakistan Riyadh and at the residence of the Consul General in Jeddah.
The Ambassador of Pakistan, H.E Muhammad Naeem Khan, unfurled the national flag, at a largely attended ceremony held in the Embassy building in Riyadh. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out.
Speaking on the occasion Ambassador said Pakistan is an important member of the world community today. Pakistan’s contribution to the maintenance of peace and security in the world can hardly be matched by any other state. As a front line state in the fight against terror, we have paid a heavy price in terms of loss of precious lives and billions of dollars to the economy.
He said that thousands of our innocent people and valiant soldiers have laid down their lives for the noble cause. But this has only made us more determined and resolute. Pakistan is also one of the largest contributors to the United Nations’ Peacekeeping Force for maintenance of peace and security around the globe.
Ambassador Naeem Khan also said that Pakistan enjoys a special relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on the solid foundations of Islamic identity, common historical experiences, and shared perceptions on all national and international issues.
He further said that as keeper of the Holy Lands, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is looked at with deep love by the people of Pakistan. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz and the entire royal family are held in high esteem in Pakistan.
In Jeddah,the Consul General, Mr.Aftab Ahmad Khokher, with a presentation of the national anthem performed the national flag hoisting ceremony at his residence in Hayya Rowdha,& Jeddah. Earlier verses from the Holy Quran were recited. The members of the Pakistani community, especially women and children, officials of the Consulate, Pakistan largely attended the function. Messages of the President and Prime Minister were read out by Consul General.
In his address to the gathering at his residence, the Consul General Aftab A Khokher said Seventy three years ago, the Muslims of South Asia resolved to establish an independent state where they could lead their lives in accordance with the Islamic ideals of freedom, sovereignty, democracy, equality, justice, tolerance and non-discrimination.
He said that everyone acknowledges the valuable contribution of the vibrant and dynamic Pakistan community in Saudi Arabia. Our community has served both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia with characteristic fervor, loyalty, commitment, diligence and dedication.It is, in fact, the most unmistakable link between our two countries. National songs were also played on the occasion. Special Supplements were also published by Daily Arab News, Daily Urdu News and Daily Saudi Gazette on this occasion.

Pakistan National Day on March 23rd, 2013 will be celebrated by the members of Pakistani community living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with usual fervor and enthusiasm. The Embassy of Pakistan, Riyadh and the Consulate General of Pakistan, Jeddah have made elaborate arrangements to celebrate the Pakistan Day (23rd March, 2013) in a befitting manner.
In Riyadh, flag hosting ceremony will be held in the Embassy of Pakistan Riyadh on Saturday 23rd March, 2013 at 0900 hours. The flag hoisting will be performed by the Ambassador of Pakistan H.E Muhammad Naeem Khan.
In Jeddah, the flag hoisting ceremony will be held at the residence of the Consul General on from 0830 hours. The Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Aftab Ahmad Khokhar will hoist the flag.
All Pakistani Nationals and their families are cordially invited to grace the occasion.
Jeddah- March 12, 2013:
Consulate General of Pakistan has started manual extension of Machine Readable passports to facilitate all those expatriate Pakistanis who have applied for renewal of their passports but delivery is delayed, they can now get extension of their MRP manually. This extension will be valid for one year.
The Consulate General;has started this facility to ensure welfare of those Pakistanis who need only;MRP for travel or other official departments in Saudi Arabia.
Jeddah- March 10, 2013:
Pakistan Navy Ship “PNS SHAHJAHAN” is scheduled to visit the Islamic port of Jeddah from 24-27 March 2013, on a goodwill cum-training visit.
The Ship derived its name after the emperor SHAHJAHAN Prince Khurram, the third son of Mughal Emperor Jahangir, was born at Lahore, when only 14 years old Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Shahjahan in 1628 became Emperor of India after the death of his father. He extended the Mughal Empire to southern India and valiantly tries to spread his sway up to Balkh and Badakhshan in Northern Afghanistan.
PNS SHAHJAHAN is the third ship to bear the name. The first Ex Royal Navy CR Cass Destroyer which was in service from 1961 to 1982 and took part in both Pak-India wars of 1965 & 1971. The second, an Ex US Navy Gearing Class destroyer remained in commission from 1982 to 1992 and was paid off. The present day PNS SHAHJAHAN is a Type-21 ship. The ship was commissioned in Pakistan on 23rd September 1994.
The ship will also be open for the Pakistani community in Jeddah and the surrounding areas on Tuesday March 26,2013 from 1500hrs to 1700 hrs. Jeddah February 27, 2013:
The Consulate General of Pakistan, keeping in view the delay in receipt of passport from Islamabad has established Passport Delivery Information Desk (PDID). This will streamline passport delivery system and facilitate Pakistani community in Western region. All those members of the community who have applied for Machine Readable Passports (Urgent/Ordinary) will now be informed through SMS to collect their passports as soon as these are received from Pakistan.
The Consul General Mr.Aftab Ahmed Khokher while realizing that members of our community face hardships especially on occasions when there is delay in dispatch of passports for some technical resaons, he issued instructions to start this service to the community immediately.
Each community member can now call at "0562760830" and record his/her name, mobile number and tracking number. The Consulate Staff would then inform about the delivery status of the passport.
Each member of Pakistani community is requested to check delivery status of their passports before visiting the Consulate. They can now call above mobile number during office timings which is 0830 hours to 1600 hours from Saturday to Wednesday.
The Consul General Aftab A Khokher has pledged that some more schemes will be introduced soon to improve service delivery system by the Consulate.

Mr. Aftab A Khokher has assumed his responsibilities today as new Consul General of Consulate General of Pakistan Jeddah. Mr. Khokher, a career diplomat, has wide ranging experience working on a number of diplomatic assignments and held various posts in Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also held various important assignments in different government departments in Pakistan including Prime Minister Secretariat and Senate of Pakistan.
Mr. Aftab Khokher is widely read and holds Degrees in M.Sc of World (Economy) London School of Economic (LSE), London, MBA and MA (Economics) from Punjab University, Lahore.
During his diplomatic assignment as,Deputy Permanent Representative/Counselor, Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN, Geneva, he was dealing with disarmament, environment, and human rights, humanitarian, administrative and budgetary issues. He was also member of the Mission Team dealing with humanitarian issues with focus on OCHA-led relief and rehabilitation process in the aftermath of the earthquake in Pakistan.
Before his new assignment as Consul General, Mr. Aftab A Khokher was working as Joint Secretary (Inter-Parliamentary Relations) Senate Secretariat, Parliament House Islamabad.
He is married and has two sons.
